I will be a stall holder at Belper Book Festival hosted by Dormouse Books on Sunday 15 September, 11-3 pm. My first novel Out of Humanity will be available at a discounted price.
Also on sale will be original watercolours by my daughter Abigail. @abigailtuffs An example of her work is shown below.
The new tag line for my novel Out of Humanity is ‘can the past come back to life?’ A supernatural tale of mystery and romance, I hope it will have you hooked right up to the last page. I’m so pleased with the Amazon reviews which now give a rating of 4.8 out of 5.
‘Absolutely terrific…’ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
‘…so brilliant. Totally engrossing.’ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
‘A fantastic read…’ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve also been working on new marketing material and new cover artwork. While the cover is still under wraps the new blurb is shown below.
I aim to republish in October 2024 with the new cover. Order Out of Humanity from amazon.co.uk.
I’ve had a few questions about the writing of Out of Humanity so I’m working on writing some answers up and hope to post these shortly. When other authors disclose some of their sources of inspiration, their methods and how they come up with their ideas I find this fascinating. Hence, I am more than happy to share my experience. There is one thing I am convinced about, there are some things in the creative process you can’t explain – I’ll elude to this in my post.
I am so pleased at the positive feedback I’ve received for my debut novel Out of Humanity – a Supernatural Tale of Mystery, New Beginnings and Romance Pictured is Nottingham Castle when I visited on a rainy day in November. Key scenes of the adventure take place here. In particular, when the protagonist stops to admire a portrait in the Long Gallery. The novel is available from Amazon.co.uk.
I am delighted that my short story, Secret Santa, has been shortlisted for the Hammond House Publishing International Literary Prize. The theme of this years competition was fate and the winners will be announced on 17 December 2023. Whatever the result, my story will be published in the Hammond House 2024 Anthology. I am particularly pleased to be shortlisted as Secret Santa is one of my personal favourites. The story centres around an incident which happened to me some forty years ago. Of course, I’ve used a lot of artistic license to make things a little more interesting but at its heart is a mix up that would not happen nowadays.
If you live local to Long Eaton, Nottingham you can pop into Heaps Stationers, 81 Main Street to buy a copy of my new novel. ‘Out of Humanity‘ is a supernatural tale of mystery, new beginnings and romance set in the local area.
Heaps is a much loved independent store that has traded for from the same place for over nine decades. Living locally, I know the shop well as my daughter gets her art supplies here and I get my jigsaws (very therapeutic pastime between writing sessions). This Evening Post article gives a lovely write up on Heaps and I am so pleased they have agreed to stock my book.
With its uplifting conclusion and touch of romance, ‘Out of Humanity’ would make the perfect festive gift.
I visited my local library at Toton, Nottingham today to see they have my novel ‘Out of Humanity‘ in stock. They’ve also very kindly produced a display notice to promote the book. The paperback is available to reserve here.
I’m very chuffed about this as I am a great fan of public libraries and the local area inspired the setting for the novel. Particular inspirations were the village of Attenborough and Nottingham Castle.
‘Out of Humanity’ is an uplifting piece of supernatural fiction with elements of mystery, new beginnings and romance. Paperback and eBook versions are available from Amazon.co.uk here.
My debut novel ‘Out of Humanity‘ is now available to buy on Amazon here in paperback and eBook (Kindle Edition) formats. A supernatural tale of mystery, new beginnings and romance either format would make an ideal Christmas present.
You can try the first four chapters for free by choosing the Kindle Edition format and clicking ‘Look inside’ or ‘Read sample’ depending on what device you are on.
